located east of tracks 4 storey entrance building, divided intercity hotel in south, central part entrance hall , north wing.

in december 1952, after second world war, work began on erecting makeshift huts on station destroyed in war construction of permanent station building commence. deutsche bundesbahn opened new station building on 19 december 1953 after twelve months of construction. many citizens of ulm unhappy station building , simultaneous restructuring of station area; carl ebner, first chairman of tourist office of ulm/neu-ulm, called biggest train wreck of ulm . on 11 january 1964, final stage of building station began extension of north wing, last 2 years. however, construction work ended in april due financial , structural problems. in september 1969, development work resumed on north wing, stopped again on 7 may 1971 due further financial problems. on 18 august 1971, upgrade of station building began in order increase number of beds of deutsche bundesbahn hotel 1972 summer olympics held in munich. completed on 7 july 1972. in september 1971, construction on northern part of entrance building resumed because of complaints railway workers union , in february 1973, north wing completed offices , canteen. 22 october 1973 5 december 1974, station building rebuilt in order move baggage storage , handling main hall. in may 1978, deutsche bundesbahn opened tourist office in entrance building , on 22 october 1992, put computerised departure board split-flap display operation in station. deutsche bahn opened concourse on 29 november 1994 , new travel centre on 20 march 1996 equipped “service point”, using new technology.

in lobby of building there large two-piece lcd departures board , stairs platform underpass. south of entrance hall markt im bahnhof (market in station) opened on 1 september 1992 variety of shops. main entrance lobby entirely glazed , area outside main entrance in station forecourt covered glass roof extending road on 4 september 1993. under glass roof stairs underpass connects station tram , bus station , city centre. directly adjoining entrance north wing there more shops, travel centre , connection former freight shed. intercity hotel 135 rooms opened on 1 september 1992 replacement old deutsche bundesbahn hotel, demolished in april 1991 , stood on same site.
