on cliff top above beach of traeth godir coch old coastguard lookout post. built in 19th century (it marked on o.s. map of 1887) , subsequently enlarged seawards in world war ii addition of brick wide-windowed extension. @ same time main doorway enlarged , edged same red brick. site accessed via track , footpath pengarn, ½ mile south-east. (this 1 of hundreds of wartime coastal lookouts kept watch enemy aircraft , submarines; oil storage tanks @ milford haven short flight here, , during war heavily bombed.)
the lookout post abandoned after war, being replaced coastguard lookout post across estuary @ gwbert (originally established in 1878 board of trade rocket life saving apparatus station , since extended, , part of maritime , coastguard agency emergency response).
