along florida coast, storm surge produced andrea remained relatively minor, surge heights ranging 2–4 ft (0.61–1.22 m) across state s gulf coast. these measurements peaked in cedar key, station documented storm surge height of 4.08 ft (1.24 m); same station recorded storm tide height of 6.26 ft (1.91 m). highest wind measurement @ mesonet site in davis islands, observed sustained winds of 47 mph (76 km/h). total of 10 tornadoes spawned in florida. near myakka city, tornado damaged roofs of 3 single family homes, 6 pole barns, , 4 outbuildings. 1 horse , 6 chickens killed, , horse , 2 dogs injured. significant piles of debris , downed power lines covered state road 70 in myakka city. damage estimated @ $50,000. twister spawned in sun city center downed trees , damaged lanais, fascia , shingles. damage reached approximately $36,000.


andrea dropped locally heavy rainfall in areas of west central florida, community collaborative rain, hail , snow network (cocorahs) station observing 6.17 inches (157 mm) inches of precipitation near chiefland. minor street flooding reported in several counties. near city of coachman, weight of saturated leaves on roof of dog kennel @ pinellas county humane society caused large section of roof collapse. in east central florida, storm produced 2–3 inches (51–76 mm) of rain, isolated totals of 5–6 inches (130–150 mm) on three-day period in orange, osceola, , volusia counties. in north florida, storm spawned tornado @ naval station mayport in jacksonville. number of non-critical structures suffered minor impact, while other buildings experienced damaged roofs , broken windows. strong winds observed in area, gusts 83 mph (134 km/h) @ jacksonville beach pier; strongest wind gust associated storm. tornado spawned on amelia island in fernandina beach, though caused minimal damage.

of ten tornadoes in florida, 3 spawned in southern portions of state. in acreage, ef-1 tornado caused minor moderate roof damage several homes, in form of shingles , roof covering torn off. numerous trees uprooted or snapped near trunk, along several branches falling; resulted in broken windows in several homes. @ 1 home, garage door damaged, causing door blow in, in turn led roof being damaged above garage. 85-year-old woman injured after being struck falling branch of oak tree, broke through bedroom window. few vehicles moved original locations, while 30 feet (9.1 m) boat flipped on side. tornado in belle glade damaged awning , downed trees , several power lines. further south, tornado touched down in broward county , entered palm beach county before lifting up; resulted in no damage.


a convective band associated tropical storm andrea moved across south florida, prompting flash flood warnings broward , miami-dade county counties. precipitation peaked @ 14.27 inches (362 mm) in north miami beach, 13.96 inches (355 mm) of fell in 24-hour period. roads became impassable in waterways community in aventura, leaving on 50 vehicles disabled. in nearby golden beach, hundreds of people became stranded in vehicles, according city officials. @ biscayne bay campus of florida international university, 11.71 inches (297 mm) of rain observed. number of stalled vehicles , impassable roads reported in north miami, while 24 families forced evacuate due flooding. further north in broward county, city of hollywood particularly hard hit, 9 inches (230 mm) of rain observed. several vehicles became disabled after retention ponds overflowed.
