the entirety of ny 426 assigned part of 1930 renumbering of state highways in new york northward extension of pa 189, short route leading south corry, pennsylvania. originally, ny 426 broke modern alignment @ french creek–mina road serve hamlet of french creek via french creek–mina , king roads before rejoining current route west of hamlet. route realigned onto present alignment west of french creek c. 1936. in 1940s, 426 designation extended southward pennsylvania pa 426. extended northwestward pennsylvania in mid-1940s, making ny 426 missing segment of otherwise discontinuous pa 426.
