in march 2016 sensorup , geosensorweb lab @ university of calgary submitted open source software project proposal eclipse foundation , has been approved. project called whiskers. whiskers ogc sensorthings api framework. have javascript client , light-weight server iot gateway devices (e.g., raspberry pi or beaglebone). whiskers aim foster healthy , open iot ecosystem, opposed 1 dominated proprietary information silos. whiskers aims make sensorthings development easy large , growing world of iot developers.

(june 2016) in development first version can downloaded , deployed. software can installed on device supporting go (e.g. windows, linux, mac os , raspberry pi). default sensor data stored in postgresql database.
