1999

dave tucci introduced new malvern head coach in spring of 1999, following resignation of steve miller after disappointing 5-5 campaign year prior. tucci s coaching style beneficial , veteran group of seniors helped turn hornets around. tucci installed wing-t offense , seen 6-2 defense, proved 1 of best defenses in inter valley conference. hornets started year 3 straight shutouts on berlin center western reserve, sandy valley , east canton. points defense give in single game 22, twice, newcomerstown in week 5 , amanda-clearcreek in ohsaa division v regional playoffs, 2 losses of 1999 season. arguably biggest win of season came in week 7, hornets shut down high-powered toronto, division vi powerhouse, 8-6 on cold , rainy afternoon in malvern. hornets clinched share of ivc championship 35-21 week 9 win on west lafayette-ridgewood. championship first since 1992. finished regular season 9-1.


malvern landed #8 spot in ohsaa division v regional playoffs (region 23), drawing amanda-clearcreek. aces clear favorite not win game, win division v championship. hornets played tough against aces early, taking slight lead of 7-6 in first half after blocking punt , returning touchdown. amanda powerful , dominated line of scrimmage on way 22-7 win. 22 points given hornets least amount of points aces score throughout rest of ohsaa playoffs on way division v state championship.


malvern finished season 9-2.


2008

the hornets posted perfect season going 10-0 winning ivc, district , regional championships , ending season overall record of 13-1 after losing hopewell-louden in state semi-final. appearance in state final four.


2009

the football team again had outstanding season going 11-2 season losing grove city christian in regional final.


2010

2010 season of change hornet s having lost 19 of 22 starters 2009 team. team started out 2-3 2 big wins on newcomerstown , undefeated strasburg, went 5-0 rest of season end regular season record of 7-3. in first round of playoff s faced familiar opponent in symmes valley. in 2009 willow wood symmes valley had traveled malvern in first round of ohsaa playoff s. season malvern s turn travel 4 ⁄2 hour trip vikings field. hornet s came away win defeating symmes valley 48-28. in second round malvern faced shadyside , defeated 20-41. hornet s finished season 8-4 record.


2011

the hornet s have started out record of 4-0 , ranked #1 in ohio division vi according 2011 foortball ap poll in weeks 3 , 4. ended season record of 10-2 , co-champion s of ivc. fifth straight year hornets have qualified playoffs, , fourth straight year have reached @ least second round.


the seniors winningest group in school history 42-9 mark. have played in 11 playoff games, posting 7-4 record. have won 2 league titles , 1 regional title, reaching state semifinals during freshman season in 2008.


2012

the hornets ended 2012 season record of 10-2 losing in ohsaa regional semifinal game third straight season. hornets finished season #2 rank in region 21. malvern’s running game has racked 3,000 yards through 11 games, hornets earned sixth straight playoff berth.


2013

the hornets captured ivc title outright win on rival sandy valley in final game of regular season. loss caldwell in first round of playoffs, hornets ended season 8-3 overall , 5-1 in inter-valley conference , finish ranked #3 in region 25, division 7. 7th straight season hornet s qualified ohsaa playoffs.


2014

the hornets momentum came end , finished 1-9, win coming against strasburg-franklin 28-6. first losing season in on decade. malvern s streak of 7 straight playoff appearances snapped.
