professional wrestling career
training , career (2008–2010)

in january 2008, brothers approached dudley boyz use ring had @ team 3d academy of professional wrestling , sports entertainment training school operated in kissimmee, florida. did not join school @ time being trained directly father , ricky santana, family friend. practice more joined academy proper , partly trained bubba ray dudley , d-von dudley.

the brothers made professional debut in november 2008, wrestling tag team under name sons of tonga (referencing father) in southern championship wrestling (florida). continued wrestling under same name in world xtreme wrestling (wxw) , puerto rico s world wrestling council (wwc) until 2009. in november 2008, took part in wwe tryout camp, 2 months later told tevita offered contract company (he later appear on television camacho) while alipate not.

alipate continued wrestling kava in wxw during year , winning wxw television championship on 20 june 2009 though lost same day. in first part of 2010 returned wwc, first singles wrestler moniker king tonga jr. (his father had wrestled in puerto rico king tonga). later teamed idol stevens, billed new american family briefly held wwc world tag team championship.

debut (2010–2012)

leone went japan in 2010, going new japan pro-wrestling (njpw) train, impressed enough hired company. made njpw in may 2010 under name tama tonga . debut match came part of 2010 super junior tag tournament, teamed davey richards, losing in first round el samurai , koji kanemoto. tonga 1 of sixteen wrestlers competed in 2010 best of super juniors tournament. defeated nobuo yoshihashi, , akira, lost ryusuke taguchi, fujita hayato, kenny omega, koji kanemoto, , taiji ishimori, ending 4 points, second last group.

he teamed hirooki goto compete in 2010 g1 tag league tournament. defeated teams of togi makabe/tomoaki honma, , king fale/super strong machine, lost teams of manabu nakanishi/strong man, masato tanaka/tomohiro ishii, , yuji nagata/wataru inoue, meant finished fourth in group 4 points. entered 2011 g1 tag league tournament, time teaming strong man. had less success previous year solitary victory on team of king fale/yuji nagata, , losses against other teams. on 4 january 2012, tonga appeared in dark match during wrestle kingdom vi (considered njpw s important show), teaming captain new japan defeat kyosuke mikami , tomoaki honma.

excursion cmll (2012)

in september 2012 announced tonga go mexico 10 october 2012 , work njpw s partner promotion, consejo mundial de lucha libre (cmll). debut match cmll saw him participate in 2012 version of cmll s leyenda de azul tournament. match 16-man torneo cibernetico elimination match, tonga eliminated when atlantis , shocker double teamed him. following tournament tonga worked number of cmll s top stars, including leyenda de azul tournament winner diamante azul. on november 13, tonga , el terrible won cmll world tag team championship atlantis , diamante azul. tonga next made finals of 2012 la copa junior tournament, where, on december 14, defeated la sombra in main event of cmll s 2012 sin piedad ( no mercy ) show.

tonga returned njpw in 2013, in time compete in wrestle kingdom 7 on january 4 teamed captain new japan , wataru inoue defeat jado, tomohiro ishii , yoshi-hashi pinning jado. on april 7, tonga , el terrible defended cmll world tag team championship against la máscara , valiente @ new japan s invasion attack event. on may 3 @ wrestling dontaku 2013, tonga followed prince devitt , bad luck fale ringside after karl anderson s loss hiroshi tanahashi attacked tanahashi. 4 of them founded new villainous named bullet club under devitt s leadership.

on july 5, tonga , el terrible lost cmll world tag team championship tanahashi , jushin thunder liger. tonga regained title tanahashi , liger on september 14 new partner rey bucanero. tonga returned cmll bucanero in october. on october 18, tonga , bucanero stripped of cmll world tag team championship when unable defend title against la máscara , rush due bucanero being sidelined injury. tonga remained in cmll until end of year.

returning japan in 2014, tonga participated exclusively in tag matches next 2 years, seen minor member of bullet club. took part in 2014 world tag league bad luck fale in november of year. finished @ bottom of block record of 3 wins , 4 losses. tonga , fale team again in 2015 world tag league worse result, picking 2 wins 4 losses finish penultimate 4 points.

on 4 january 2016, @ wrestle kingdom 10, tonga teamed fale , yujiro takahashi take part in match determine inaugural never openweight 6-man tag team champions, defeated jay briscoe, mark briscoe , toru yano when jay pinned tonga. on february 11 @ new beginning in osaka, tonga, fale , takahashi defeated briscoes , yano in rematch win never openweight 6-man tag team championship. after three-day reign, 3 lost title briscoes , yano @ new beginning in niigata. on march 3, tonga scored biggest singles win of career defeating former iwgp heavyweight champion , reigning iwgp tag team champion togi makabe in first round of 2016 new japan cup. following day, eliminated tournament in second round hirooki goto.

guerrillas of destiny (2016–present)

in march 2016, tonga announced reform tag team tevita in njpw, recruiting him bullet club tanga loa. team named guerrillas of destiny (g.o.d.). on april 10 @ invasion attack 2016, g.o.d. defeated makabe , honma become new iwgp tag team champions. lost title jay , mark briscoe on june 19 @ dominion 6.19 in osaka-jo hall. in late june 2016, tonga returned cmll brother month-long excursion , 2 competed in 2016 international gran prix, tonga last eliminated, losing winner volador jr.

tonga announced 1 of participants of 2016 g1 climax 18 july 2016. njpw s prestigious tournament, entitles winner iwgp heavyweight championship title match @ next wrestle kingdom., tonga s participation in g1 seen major step-up. in third tournament match on 25 july, scored biggest win of career defeating hiroshi tanahashi (who had won previous year s g1). tonga finished tournament on august 12 record of 4 wins , 5 losses.

returning tag team competition g.o.d., , brother regained iwgp tag team championship briscoe brothers on october 10 @ king of pro-wrestling. reached final of 2016 world tag league lost togi makabe , tomoaki honma on december 10. on january 4, 2017, tonga , loa lost iwgp tag team championship tomohiro ishii , toru yano in three-way match, involving makabe , honma. on june 11 @ dominion 6.11 in osaka-jo hall, tonga , loa defeated war machine win iwgp tag team championship third time. lost title war machine in no disqualification match on july 1 @ g1 special in usa.

tonga participated in second g1 climax entering 2017 edition in july. finished record of 4 wins , 5 losses.
