sydney wayser born in los angeles, spent summers in paris french musician-filmmaker father, jacques wayser. graduated berklee college of music in boston, massachusetts divided time between new york, new york , los angeles, california making own music influenced jeff buckley, serge gainsbourg, rufus wainwright, loudon wainwright iii , leonard cohen, women feist , beyonce.

when wayser released debut album, silent parade in 2008, npr cited unabashed love gloomy orchestrations , waltz rhythms. there’s tinkling glockenspiel, lone oboe, accordion , creaking string arrangements, wayser’s piano work steering ship. it’s appropriate backdrop brooding meditations on misery , heartache, set in world inhabited lurking strangers , ghosts of past.

in 2009, wayser’s album colorful released, , 3 years later came bell choir coast. latter album produced dan molad lucius , mixed shawn everett.

on 2014, work earned clara-nova ascap abe olman scholarship , same year signed major label see deal end label taking masters. result, wayser began rerecording music.

wayser spent 2017 singing backup lorde working producer shawn everett (weezer, alabama shakes, john legend, lucius) on new clara-nova ep called iron age set release on march 2, 2018 on kobalt music recordings. illusionist single ep released september 29, 2017.
