pentire point , stepper point stand @ either side of mouth of river camel estuary (pentire north-east, stepper south-west). south of pentire point small seaside resort of polzeath. coastline around headland owned national trust, although bulk of headland let pentire farm.


the rumps promontory site of iron age clifftop fortifications - series of mound , ditch earthworks remain visible today.


the entire headland forms pentire peninsula site of special scientific interest, designated geology , flora , fauna including nationally rare plants. important examples noted include slates upper devonian period, several invertebrate species, predatory birds , grey seals.


a small island named puffin island lies 1 mile (1,600 metres) north-west of pentire point. small island named mouls lies 300 yards north-east of rumps , supports colonies of seabirds. beyond rumps, coastline veers southeast port quin bay.


the south west coast path closely follows coastline of headland, , sightseeing boat tours regularly travel along coast nearby port of padstow.
