Alluvial Conglomerate (geology)
fanglomerate in death valley national park
alluvial deposits form in areas of high relief , typically coarse-grained. @ mountain fronts individual alluvial fans merge form braidplains , these 2 environments associated thickest deposits of conglomerates. bulk of conglomerates deposited in setting clast-supported strong ab-plane imbrication. matrix-supported conglomerates, result of debris-flow deposition, quite commonly associated many alluvial fans. when such conglomerates accumulate within alluvial fan, in rapidly eroding (e.g., desert) environments, resulting rock unit called fanglomerate.
