the indonesian sports association (isi) established in jakarta in 1938 aim of coordinating existing sports associations including football federation. during japanese occupation of indonesia 1942 1945, sporting activities coordinated sports practice movement. following indonesian declaration of independence in 1945, nation took on running of own sport , in january 1946, conference held in solo, central java, gave rise indonesian olympic committee (kori), chaired sultan hamengkubuwono ix.

during first pekan olahraga nasional event, many sporting organizations tested uniform system recognized throughout country official scoring method. until then, no clear rules evident. in case of aurora club, bandung, later renamed health , strength organization, scoring system went trial weightlifting event; in carl sugianto crowned first weightlifting champion of indonesia.
