recent developments
imperial valley transit has been on concentrated effort in recent years improve transit services region serves. these efforts include replacing aging fleet 1990s new vehicles. new transit stations have been developed more on way planned cities of calexico , imperial. schedules in-demand routes have been expanded well, alleviating overcrowding.

the following routes treated extension of imperial valley transit system, funded , administered imperial county transportation commission (ictc), ycipta, , quechan. routes operated yuma county area transit (ycat) buses.
ycat turquoise route 10
since formation in 1989, iv transit had provided public transportation winterhaven extension of route 3 east of holtville. lifeline route, composed of 1 round trip, provided passengers in remote community access government , medical services in county seat of el centro every wednesday.
when ictc, administrator , funder of iv transit, approached quechan , ycipta provide better transit services in area, agencies agreed discontinue extension of route 3 east of holtville , replace newly jointly funded ycat turquoise route 10. more responsive route, effective january 7, 2013, provided 2 round trips day , traveled every monday, wednesday, , saturday. route better serves eastern imperial county residents , connects yuma, winterhaven, , el centro via interstate 8. further connections available ycat routes @ downtown yuma transit center , ivt routes @ el centro regional transit terminal.
though showing modest gains in ridership since then, service on saturdays has been cut effective july 1, 2016 due inability meet farebox recovery ratio performance standards.
ycat blue route 5
this partnership further broaden when ictc started jointly fund ycipta , quechan ycat s blue route 5 in fy 2016. route, has been around since june 1, 2012, circulator running in counter clockwise direction connecting yuma fort yuma indian reservation, winterhaven, , quechan casino resort. service further enhances transportation options eastern imperial county residents have @ disposal.
and since october 20, 2013, blue route 5 makes stop @ andrade port of entry. first time public transit services have ever stop @ destination.
schedule expansion
part of expansion included increase in saturday service beginning august 3, 2013. buses run approximately every 90 minutes on routes 1 & 2.
trips , imperial valley college have improved in august 2013 initial 7 11 trips day on route 21. again, alleviated overcrowding , allowed students arrive classes on time.
further expansion achieved headway improvements 70 35 minutes beginning october 1, 2013 on route 1 during peak hours 7 a.m. thru 5:30 p.m. immediate results buses running on time , less passengers being left behind @ bus stops.
on december 18, 2013, brawley gold line circulator established in city of brawley better serve residents , transferring passengers on main bus routes of system. serves key destinations, providing greater mobility around city.
additional circulators planned when funding becomes available garnet line in calexico , red line in imperial.
starting january 5, 2014, limited sunday service implemented between calexico , brawley on routes 1 & 2 along ivt access, local para transit service of imperial valley. first time public transportation services has been provided county-wide on sundays.
transit technology
in 2016, wi-fi has been introduced entire fleet of vehicles except circulator routes (blue, gold, , green lines) in brawley , el centro. also, if not vehicles have security cameras.
