early years

the band founded matt walst in 2005, born in norwood, ontario, , older brother, brad walst, bassist canadian rock band, 3 days grace. instead of playing in brother s band, matt decided form 1 of own friends brendan mcmillan on bass guitar, doug oliver on drums, , chris mcmillan on lead guitar. talented chris mcmillan left band , became electrician being replaced paulo neta. in 2009, friend introduced walst toronto–based singer–guitarist sal costa, later became band s guitarist, replacing paulo neta, became guitarist thornley , big wreck. however, departure of sal confirmed on website in post dated january 9, 2013. darkest days has opened many bands, including 3 days grace, default, theory of deadman, skillet, papa roach, nickelback, , hinder.

my darkest days won contest called rock search put on 97.7 htz fm in st. catharines, ontario in 2008 every lie . gave them time in recording studio publicity in niagara, ontario. gave band money tour year well.

debut album (2009–2011)

when chad kroeger heard darkest days music, impressed signed them record label. matt walst gave chad kroeger demo while touring together. first song wrote after being signed porn star dancing, became first single. kroeger decided wanted featured on it, along friend of his, zakk wylde, lead vocalist , lead guitarist black label society , former guitarist ozzy osbourne. kroeger , wylde both appear in video, filmed @ hard rock las vegas vanity nightclub. remix of single released featured atlanta rapper ludacris. on official facebook page, darkest days announced debut eponymous album released on september 21, 2010. on album, song set on fire features australian singer/guitarist orianthi on lead guitar, known work steve vai, carlos santana, , michael jackson. on album collaboration country-pop singer jessie james, on duran duran cover come undone .

the saw 3d soundtrack released on october 26, 2010 features song world belongs me.

my darkest days’ first major–label single, “porn star dancing,” went gold in canada , in united states.

in march 2011, darkest days involved in bus accident bandwagon rv style bus flipped , fell ditch in rural idaho. no major injuries incurred, drummer doug oliver suffered sprained ankle , band missed 1 tour date in boise 3 days grace. announced on facebook page entering studio in october 2011 joey moi of mountain view records start writing new material next album.

sick , twisted affair (2012)

the lead single second studio album, casual sex , released itunes on january 17, 2012 , sent canadian rock radios on january 13, 2012. second album, sick , twisted affair, released on march 26, 2012. features singles, casual sex , sick , twisted affair . darkest days went on tour nickelback, bush, , seether in april 2012. part of nickelback s here , 2012 world tour. save yourself, taken sick , twisted affair, featured on soundtrack hockey video game, nhl 13.

three days grace , side projects (2013–present)

following frontman adam gontier s departure 3 days grace in 2013, matt walst brought on replacement lead vocalist tour, , later made permanent lead singer of band. released album titled human on march 31, 2015 walst s vocals being featured first time group.

while matt has been busy 3 days grace, fellow bandmates started side projects of own. in 2013 doug oliver joined cold creek county, country music band started brandon scott out of brighton, ontario. brendan mcmillan , reid henry started band called never die , touring in usa. nightmare has been playing on satellite radios octane channel. on july 19, 2017, never die changed name of band deadset society.
