leinster senior league

in 1921–22 pioneers playing in leinster senior league senior division. other teams in league season included shamrock rovers, bohemians b, st james s gate b, bray unknowns, shelbourne united, midland athletic, brooklyn, merrion, glasnevin, cyms , richmond.


league of ireland

the 1922–23 season saw league of ireland expand 8 twelve teams. after frankfort , ymca dropped out, pioneers became 1 of 6 new teams join league. others shamrock rovers, shelbourne united, rathmines athletic, athlone town , midland athletic. pioneers subsequently spent 4 seasons playing in league of ireland. finished 1922–23 season in 8th place, 1923–24 season in 9th place , both 1924–25 , 1925–26 seasons in 10th , last place. @ end of 1925–26 season failed re–elected , replaced dundalk. pioneers played in 4 fai cup campaigns. best result quarter final appearance in 1924–25.


pioneer xi v gallia

in 1923 gallia club paris visited dublin play 2 friendly matches against bohemians , pioneers. tour significant saw french football federation officially recognize football association of ireland. on saturday, 31 march, gallia played 1–1 draw against bohemians @ dalymount park. on sunday, 1 april, @ same venue, pioneer xi played 0–0 draw gallia. fai hoped gallia play league of ireland xi. fff had sanctioned club matches. pioneer xi, however, entirely made of guest players , league of ireland xi. none of players selected played pioneers. guest players included, among others, frank collins, ernie mackay, charlie dowdall, ned brooks, bob fullam , christy robinson.
