rogers had start in year 1883 building of pl&w railroad through territory. named founder, t. g. rogers. rogers incorporated village in 1895.


mount hope college

mount hope college academy in central rogers, located on highland avenue. in 1894, academy burned, rebuilt same year. asher a. galbreath , charles burleigh galbreath bought academy in 1894. in 1905, college changed summer school, , later public school. public school, rogers area school, served students in grades 1-8. school again destroyed fire in january 1951. successor schoolhouse, built on sprucevale road in southern rogers, become rogers elementary school, serving under beaver local school district until demolition in 2015.

ny 133 westbound through village of mount kisco the alignment of ny 133 through town of new castle part of former croton turnpike (also known somerstown turnpike), connected town of somers village of sing sing (current-day ossining). croton turnpike company established on april 6, 1807 charter new york state assembly @ cost of 12.5 cents per wagon @ least 2 horses. middle of 19th century, croton turnpike had been dissolved, after 1849 request repeal charter given in 1807 had passed assembly. the first piece of ny 133 upgraded state highway standards alignment concurrent current-day ny 100 in millwood. designated state highway 143 (sh 143), alignment first contracted in 1903 3.14 miles (5.05 km) segment of macadam. new road 24 feet (7.3 m) wide , use 12 feet (3.7 m) of macadam pavement. project cost $30,430.00 (1903 usd) state covering half cost ($15,215.00). contract let on june 15, 1903, construction completed , accepted state highway s...
