qantas selected pinkenba flying boat base in 1930s. until war, hamilton reach congested, base moved upstream providing better access passengers.


on 6 march 1963, queen elizabeth ii unveiled roadside memorial commemorates discovery of commercial quantities of oil in australia. although significant oil deposits had been found @ moonie pipeline brisbane not completed until following year. site selected because close large oil refinery process oil.

pinkenba has historical trail designed on behalf of pinkenba community association , port of brisbane brisbane city council neighbourhood planning team; more work still done on next ten years beautification of pinkenba start being local park , historical path , local pub.
