the great mosque located in northeastern part of city in historic kasbah area near harbor, next chamber of commerce. earlier, mosque located on rue de la marine in algiers during french colonial rule of algeria, entrance street algiers harbor. rue de la marine no longer exists , has been surpassed rue d angkor , boulevard de ernesto guevara , in mosque area fork road called rue saadi et mokhtar ben hafidh lies on. mosque seen here reordered portico of columns , poly-lobed arches built @ beginning of colonial period. these precede façade of mosque, consequent realignment of streets in area.
