luxembourg has number of architecturally interesting churches. abbey of echternach (700) oldest anglo-saxon monastery in continental europe. after original buildings had burnt down in 1017, new abbey built. church romanesque in style, there gothic additions in 14th , 16th centuries.



one of best preserved romanesque churches in luxembourg chapel in vianden castle.
the origins of st. lawrence s church in diekirch can traced 6th century present building consists of 12th-century romanesque tower , gothic 15th-century church.
st michael s church in centre of luxembourg city rebuilt in 1688 in romanesque , baroque styles.
the romano-gothic church in village of holler in north of luxembourg dates 12th century. of particular interest church s high gothic arches , palm vaulting 14th century frescos.
the munshausen church tower 1250 in romanesque style while nave underwent gothic additions around 1470.
the church @ septfontaines in south-west of luxembourg has romanesque tower older building, of rebuilt in 14th century , consecrated in 1317. remains of wooden beams indicate there wooden ceiling on nave. replaced late gothic vaulting in 1516.
