in snooker, situation in cue ball resting in contact object ball. if object ball ball may legally hit, allowable hit away , counts having hit in shot. if ball moves, push shot must have occurred, in case foul. rule applies british pool snooker. in american-style pool, , in carom billiards, less stringent definition of push shot applies; see frozen.

training template
training template
a thin sheet of rigid material in size , shape of physical ball rack (e.g. diamond nine-ball), holes drilled though it, used make permanent divots in cloth of table, 1 @ time each ball in racking pattern, placing ball in 1 of holes in placed template , tapping sharply above create cloth indentation. holes spaced closer regulation ball width of 2⁄2 inch (57.15 mm) apart, when balls settle partially divots, outer sides of these indentations create ball-on-ball pressure, pushing balls tightly. purpose of template away using physical rack, racking instead being performed placing balls position, , divots aligning them tightest possible formation automatically. prevents accidental loose racks, , thwarts possibility of cheating manipulating ball positions while racking. european pocket billiard federation (epbf, europe s wpa affiliate organization) has adopted racking technique professional euro-tour event series. see racking template, pocket template.
triangle

1. a rack in form of equilateral triangle. there different sizes of triangles racking different games (which use different ball sizes , numbers of balls), including fifteen ball racks snooker , various pool games such eight-ball , blackball. larger triangle used twenty-one ball rack baseball pocket billiards). smallest triangle rack employed in three-ball (see illustration @ article) not strictly necessary, front of larger rack can used, or balls can arranged hand.
2. the object balls in triangular formation, before break shot, after being racked above (i.e., same rack, definition 2). principally british. (see pyramid.)
trick shot
an exhibition shot designed impress either player s skill or knowledge of how set balls , take advantage of angles of table; combination of both. trick shot may involve items otherwise never seen during course of game, such bottles, baskets, etc., , members of audience being placed on or around table.

also treble. british term type of bank shot in object ball potted off 2 cushions, sending twice across table , side pocket. called two-cushion double.

two-shot carry
a rule in blackball whereby after opponent has faulted , yielded 2 shots, if incoming shooter pots ball on first shot, (s)he still allowed miss in later shot , take second shot in-hand (from d or baulk, or if opponent potted cue ball, anywhere)—even on black, in variants. called 2 visits rule; i.e., 2 penalty shots considered independent visits table, , limiting variants discussed @ 2 shots below cannot logically apply.
two shots
in blackball, penalty conceded player after fault. incoming opponent allowed miss twice before faulting player allowed visit. many local rules state in-hand d (see d, the) or baulk (or if opponent potted cue ball, anywhere) nature of second shot lost if ball potted on first shot, lost if ball potted in first shot player s last coloured ball (object ball in group), and/or there ever 1 shot on black after fault. see two-shot carry more detail on sub-rule may apply (and eliminate variations discussed here).

two-way shot
1. a shot in if target missed, opponent safe or not have desirable shot;
2. a shot in there 2 ways score;
3. a shot in second ball targeted pocketed, broken out of cluster, repositioned or other secondary goal intended.
