known huddleston gardens , theosophical society garden lies on south bank of adyar river , covers 260 acres. garden has migratory birds, fruit bats, snakes, jackals, wild cats, mongooses, hares, , variety of spiders. trees include rare mahogany , other trees across globe. garden had 450-year-old banyan tree, known locally adyar aala maram, aerial roots covered 60,000 sq m. fell under own weight in 1996.
