the economy of village based on agriculture , fruit-growing centuries. typically lower taunus fruit grasslands apple trees. since beginning of 19th century, many carpenters , joineries located in town. different kelkheim, furniture industry not conserved present. besides, clayey ground allowed setting brickyards. industry, farbwerke in höchst (hoechst ag, today industriepark höchst), source of income since late 19th century. opening of railway line königstein höchst in 1901 improved connections höchst , frankfurt. before that, many workers had walk every morning soden railway station (approx. 8 km (5.0 mi)).
after world war ii, fischbach had 1,000 inhabitants. due refugee settlement, sudetenland, number of residents doubled. village became bigger in 60s , 70s due suburbanization. fischbach changed small taunus-village suburb of frankfurt. number of residents rose 6,000 in 80s , not changing lot since time. due strong immigration of citizens frankfurt, confessional (mainly catholic in former times) , social structure changed: in addition long-established village residents, craftsmen , farmers, academic affected middle-class appeared (employees of hoechst ag)
