when tsunami hit south india on 26 december 2004, affected many of people living near adyar-compound. theosophical society, through theosophical order of service, helped people survive both in immediate aftermath , later. similar activities undertaken after hurricane destroyed of new orleans in 2005.

the influence of theosophical society has been major, considering small size. new age movement reflected many of main characteristics, holism , eclecticism. in modern art, artists kandinsky , mondriaan both influenced theosophy.
