the incumbent first district representative rexlon rex gatchalian running under nationalist people s coalition, same political party had during 2007 election. gatchalian, businessman, younger brother of incumbent mayor sherwin gatchalian. in 2007, defeated former mayor bobbit carlos in congressional race, hence making first political position ever held. other candidate congressman atty. maria elisa leezl mendoza, former government lawyer human rights division of valenzuela city hall of justice , chairman of people s law enforcement board (pleb). atty. leezl mendoza founder of integ advocacies on renewable energy, land use , stewardship way towards food security , economic empowerment.


for second district, incumbent representative magtanggol magi gunigundo ran under lakas-kampi-cmd party. lawyer profession, became representative of former municipality of valenzuela 1998-2001. election of 2007 installed him second district representative of city. gunigundo s opponent race carlitos sonny tiquia, pastor of valenzuela evangelical church , former member of valenzuela city council.
