expansion project

the airport able handle 3.5 million passengers annually. design of naypyidaw international airport drawn cpg consultants pte., ltd. of singapore. company designed annex yangon international airport, singapore s changi airport , several airports of vietnam , laos. construction work of airport, performed asia world company, myanmar corporation, began in january 2009. @ completion of project, airport have 2 runways , 3 terminals modern facilities. construction scheduled proceed in 3 phases.

phase 1

phase 1, scheduled completed between 2009 – 2011, comprises:

an airport building can cope 3.5 million passengers
a taxiway 3700 metres in length , 30.5 metres in width
a 403 metres long , 336 metres wide apron total area of 135,408 square metres 10 aircraft can park simultaneously
boarding bridges,
an annex airport
a control tower
a car parking and
other facilities.

annually, 2 million international passengers plus 1.5 million local passengers totaling 3.5 million can use main airport building made of

the main hall area of 17,174 square metres,
the east hall , west hall area of 3224 square metres each and
the north hall area of 5912 square metres.

the total area of ground, first , second floors of building 63,000 square metres.

the airport building two-story building reinforced concrete boree piles. ground floor passenger arrivals , first floor passengers departures. west hall local passengers, east hall, , north hall international passengers.

the approach road airport 2 ways / 4 lanes 1500 metres long. car parking measures 200 metres 107 metres , total area 21,400 square metres. 62- metre-high control tower can control construction tasks of first, second , third phases of project.

phase 2

the second phase of expansion project includes adding apron measuring 1200 feet × 1200 feet in front of already-constructed airport building, apron vip aircraft park , building 4 more boarding bridges @ airport building passengers, flight catering building, government complex , airport maintenance base.

phase 3

the third phase includes adding 17 more boarding bridges, dual parallel taxiway measuring 1200 ft × 100 ft, runway measuring 12000 ft × 100 ft in front of airport building, set of dual parallel taxiway measuring 12,000 ft × 100 ft, 4 taxways measuring 650 ft × 100 ft, 4 taxways measuring 550 ft × 100 ft , apron cargo planes. after third phase completed, airport able cope 10.5 million passengers annually , more modern , sophisticated yangon international airport , mandalay international airport.
