monastic/non-monastic

the theosophical society open supports 3 objects, regardless of belief, social custom or marriage status. celibacy neither encouraged nor discouraged, each member being free decide his/her own way of life.

spiritual discipline

the practice of brotherhood regardless of race, creed, sex, color, or other difference recommended. nothing mandatory. members free have or no spiritual practice @ all.


administration

the organization has highly autonomous setup in lodges , sections autonomous. president gets involved in national section matters when there dispute between them. otherwise president not interfere in matters of sections or lodges. president nominated members of general council , elected members on world. president holds office seven-year period. vice-president acts on behalf of president necessary , assists him or in various ways. secretary handles worldwide correspondence, maintains records including statistics of worldwide membership of society, lodges , sections, , responsible producing annual report. he/she secretary of general council , executive committee of society. committee, meets number of times each year, implements decisions of general council , makes financial , administrative decisions relating society s headquarters. treasurer responsible finances of society , prepares annual financial report.


locally, members organised in lodges. when country has @ least 7 lodges, these can gathered in national section. lodges , sections have democratic organisation in chairperson, secretary, treasurer , optional other officers elected. similarly, officers of national sections directly elected members of section in business meeting.
