joan llorenç (spanish: juan llorens) (1458–1520) 1 of important leaders of germanies during first phase of revolt, when warfare had not yet broken out. llorenç sought expand role guilds played in city , counterbalance noble power. nobility disliked had abused power , acted above law, government doing little against them. llorenç , council of thirteen practically ran city of valencia until new viceroy, diego hurtado de mendoza, arrived. 1 of compromises llorenç tried broker addition of 2 representatives governing council of valencia elected people. 2 candidates affiliated germanies won, while candidates supported nobles lost. afterward, nobility refused admit germanies representatives, , new viceroy backed them. this, , death of popular guillén castleví (known under nickname sorolla ) caused riots in city ended royal administration. llorenç did not live long enough see guide continuing revolt, died in 1520.
