adrien arcand (october 3, 1899 – august 1, 1967) journalist montreal , 1 of earliest , influential fascist leaders in canada. editor several canadian antisemitic newspapers. in 1934, created national social christian party, , in 1938 party merged prairie provinces canadian nationalist party , ontario’s nationalist party. arcand chosen leader of new national unity party of canada, however, right wing fascist party banned during world war ii under defence of canada regulations. arcand arrested , incarcerated throughout duration of war. after fall of nazi germany, arcand lost popularity , influence, continued promoting anti-communism , antisemitism , still referred himself canadian führer until died.
