simple storage granaries raised on 4 or more posts appeared in yangshao culture in china , after onset of intensive agriculture in korean peninsula during mumun pottery period (c. 1000 b.c.) in japanese archipelago during final jōmon/early yayoi periods (c. 800 b.c.). in archaeological vernacular of northeast asia, these features lumped may have functioned residences , called raised floor buildings .
